Gail Sneddon trained at The Laban Centre for Movement and Dance, which
led her to touring nationally and internationally as a performer for
companies such as Nigel Charnock, Athina Vahla and Ersatz. Driven
by her desire to apply choreographic techniques to other art forms
in 1999 she set up her own company Modusforum, creating performance/
installation based works which concentrated on combining movement
with sound and spatial design. In 2002 she completed her MA in Scenography
at Central Saint Martins College of Art Design. Since then her work
has been firmly concentrated in both Dance and Film. She has worked
as Artistic Director for a broad range of events in various fields
including ‘Hot Trees’, an audio/visual club event featuring
live performances from The Zutons and Bloc Party in collaboration
with Mute Records and promoters Eat your own Ears, and visual direction
and design for ‘Memento Mori - Memento Amorea’ new international
touring work for Cando Co Dance Company. Having become frustrated
with the transient nature of installation work, her main concern recently
has been to work with film to capture her unique choreographic vision
into a lasting format.
As well as large international projects, Gail has also received commissions
for two pilot audiovisual single screen projects. These were awarded
by South East Dance Film Commission for the piece The Fall of Adam
and by Arts Council England, London for Johnny Dog Ear. On the strength
of the two pilot films, both pieces have received full commissioning.
The Fall of Adam premiered at The Brighton Festival in May 2006 and
is subsequently at present receiving distribution across Europe and
the United States. Dog Ear is Currently in the post production stages
and will be premiered in London in December 2006.
